Bryan works in the medical equipment industry. At a conference, his goal was to speak about newly designed equipment and persuade hospitals and doctors to adopt it. After he returned from Nashville, he wrote this: “This was the most significant presentation I have ever had to do. You completely changed my approach to this presentation. Instead of hiding behind words on a slide deck, I presented my material as a story.”
Talk Tip: You are the ambassador of your message, your cause and your impact. Your slide deck is a visual tool, not the main driver of your message. Craft your speech, hone your message and then add slides. Your slides should support your connection with your listeners, not compete for their attention.
P.S. Next Talk Tip will be about “Story.”
