Barrie Barton Launches New Presentation Skills Program for Corporate and Professional Groups
After several months of private development, educator and facilitator Barrie Barton announces the official launch of her new professional series, Stand and Deliver Asheville.
“In January 2014, I wrote at the bottom of a list of future dreams: offer a presentation skills workshop. Today, I’m thrilled to announce the dream is alive and well and is expanding into a viable business,” said Barton.
Stand and Deliver is a presentation and communication skills coaching program for business professionals and teams. Offered in a multiple-week series, Barton blends science, physical movement, and performance mindset and technique to teach leaders and teams how to present and communicate with confidence, greater integrity and utilize powerful skills of persuasion. Although the name is locally-focused, Barton explains, she provides training to companies in the Southeast.
“If you’re an architect, a data analyst, a retail manager…you often don’t learn the necessity of presentation and authentic performance. That kind of training is not in your grad school curriculum or even readily available upon hiring,” Barton explained. “And yet your ability to communicate powerfully affects the performance of the team every day in your office, and eventually will determine the success of any company long-term.”
Barton designed the Stand and Deliver Asheville series model based on her years of experience as a facilitator, educator, director and performer. In the local community, she also serves as Artistic Director of Community Choreography Projects. She has directed and produced five large-scale multi-media productions at the Diana Wortham Theatre. Barton is a member of Asheville Toastmasters, an educator of 22 years, and is the recipient of multiple awards and grants for her work.
The series, Barton explained, is particularly effective for introverts in business. “For those who feel nervous about public speaking, it’s an opportunity to experience growth and learn in a safe, comfortable space–your own office–as well as realize that these skills are manageable and doable.”
